Some extra speeding tickets were handed out tonight to try to get drivers to slow down. After two straight nights of catching drivers going 100 miles per hour, Utah Highway Patrol troopers are saying enough is enough.

Trooper Jason Sills has caught his fair share of speeders, but the past two nights are tickets he'll remember writing.

Tuesday night on I-15, he caught two drivers racing each other near Lagoon. Then last night, he caught two more, also going 100 miles an hour, again near Lagoon, and into a construction zone.

"They really don't have a reason. They just said they wanted to be in front and wanted to win," Sills said.

So tonight, UHP troopers set up what they call a special "speed enforcement operation." Sgt. Greg Lundell clocked drivers and gave word to waiting troopers about which cars were speeding.

They want to get the word out: They're looking for racers, especially after two nights of 100-mile-an-hour stops.

"That's real concerning to us. Our number one goal out here is to make people get home safe; and when we get vehicles going that fast, that really concerns us," Lundell said.

In each case, the two drivers racing knew each other, and both were arrested.

Last night, the speeders were going above 100 in a 55-mile-an-hour construction zone. Not a cheap ticket.
