(KSL News) The former cell mate of a man standing trial for murder in Box Elder County says he admitted to the crime.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports Benjamin Britt testified that Glenn Griffin spoke about the 1984 murder of Bradley Perry when the two were housed together at the Box Elder County jail in 2005.

Attorneys for Griffin claim Britt made up the story in order to get a letter of favor from the state parole board and get out of prison early. However, Britt says he came forward with the information before any deal was on the table.
