Officers Taser Suspect, End Standoff

Nevada Escolp drove from Arizona to speak with his estranged wife in Utah. They argued at her workplace earlier in the day, and that night he forced himself into her house.

She called police saying he was drunk and vandalizing the home.

When authorities arrived, Escolp leaned out the window and threw things at the officers. At one point he threw a knife, hitting an officer in the chest. The officer wasn't hurt because of a bullet proof vest.

Lt. Paul Jaroscak/ Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office: "He would then kind of come out of the residence and antagonize the officers. They were able to get a clear shot with a taser. They hit him with a taser, incapacitated him and took him into custody."

Residents in the area had to be evacuated, but no one was seriously injured.
