WEST VALLEY CITY — A West Valley City man is in good condition Saturday after he started his Fourth of July with a gunshot wound to the leg.
The incident happened about 7:24 a.m. near 3850 S. 4800 West, according to West Valley Police Lt. Jeff Conger.
"He was treated on scene and transported to the hospital," Conger said. "He's going to be fine."
Conger said the man, in his early 40s, was highly intoxicated and couldn't give officers many details. "So we don't really know exactly what happened," he said.
A neighbor who called in the shooting saw another man leaving the scene. "So we think he's some type of friend, or somebody that he knows," Conger said. "Looks like they were drinking, and something happened — got into a fight, and he got shot. But he's going to be OK."
