SPANISH FORK — A man who claimed he was teaching a 13-year-old girl about chakra has been arrested for investigation of child sex abuse.

Ronald Lee Wiggins, 37, of Spanish Fork, was arrested Tuesday for investigation of two counts of sex abuse of a child and dealing in harmful materials to a minor.

Chakra is used in meditation practices, and focuses on spiritual energy supposedly found in several points on the body.

A 13-year-old girl told investigators that on Friday she went for a hike in Utah County with Wiggins and his girlfriend.

During the hike, “she stated Ronald performed chakra on her which she stated was supposed to be a spiritual healing act. She stated during the act Ronald had her lay down on the ground and he kneeled beside her,” according to a police affidavit. “She stated Ronald touched her with his hands on her head. He then wrapped his hand around her neck and continued to move down her body.”

The girl said Wiggins had performed chakra on her once before at his residence, which she allowed because “she was trying to be more spiritual and make herself a better person,” the affidavit states.

But when interviewed by police, “she told me she now believes Ronald was grooming her the entire time,” according to the affidavit.

The girl said the second time Wiggins allegedly performed chakra on her during the hike, he “was more aggressive in the touching,” the affidavit states.

Wiggins also sent the girl articles “about Sacral Magic. The articles talked about sexual transmutation, sexual energy and pleasure. One article also talked about how teenagers should be having sex every day,” according to the affidavit.

When interviewed by police, Wiggins said he performed chakra on the girl, but “stated it was for energy healing and not sexual gratification. Ronald told us during chakra you have to touch certain areas of the body but would not specify which areas,” the affidavit states.

Wiggins was then placed under arrest.
