SALT LAKE CITY — A woman who was allegedly trying to help her husband during a fight was arrested after police say she stabbed the man her husband was fighting.
Morgaine Huey, 22, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail Monday for investigation of aggravated assault.
About 9 p.m., police say Huey’s husband got into a fight with another man near 2200 S. Highland Drive. “(She) stated her husband was getting hurt and appeared to be losing the fight,” according to a police affidavit.
That’s when a witness observed Huey “pull an object out and stab the victim, causing him to fall to the ground. (Huey) denied pulling a knife or stabbing the victim,” the affidavit states.
Police believe a screwdriver was used in the attack. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he underwent surgery. Salt Lake police detective Greg Wilking said Tuesday the man’s condition was not considered to be life-threatening.
