WEST JORDAN — Crews worked Tuesday morning to repair a gas leak that closed 7800 South between Redwood Road and 1300 West in West Jordan.

A car crash caused the leak, which is being repaired at 1500 West, according to police.

By 8:30 a.m., authorities at the scene had capped the gas leak and businesses nearby were being checked by emergency personnel, West Jordan City said on Twitter.

Power was restored in the area about 9:20 a.m., the city said.

The area near the leak on 7800 South is expected to remain closed until about 5 p.m., according to a tweet from the Utah Department of Transportation. People should plan to use alternate routes for the rest of the day, West Jordan City tweeted.
