ST. GEORGE — Charges have been filed against a man accused of sexually abusing two teen girls.

Jacob Jeffs Steed, 40, of Hurricane, was charged in 5th District Court with forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony; and six counts of sex abuse of a minor, a class A misdemeanor.

“Both of the juveniles, who were 15 years of age at the time of the incidents, disclosed details of being sexually abused by Jacob on multiple occasions in 2018,” according to a police affidavit.

One girl told police that she felt “uncomfortable when the abuse first began, but Jacob convinced her that it was all right because she would belong to him in the future,” according to the affidavit.

The Washington County Attorney’s Office said it could not comment on whether the case has ties to polygamy.
