PROVO — A Springville man was charged Monday with sending and receiving thousands of images of child pornography.

Alex Carl Chandler, 30, is charged in 4th District Court with 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

Chandler was “sending and receiving thousands of images of a sexual nature involving children,” according to charging documents.

Some of those images were sent to an out of state undercover agent working for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, according to a police affidavit. On Wednesday, officers from multiple agencies served a search warrant at Chandler’s house.

Agents searched his phone and found “20 videos of minor, prepubescent females in sexual situations. The victims’ ages were from about 2-years-old to 13-years-old,” the charges state.

“Alex confirmed he sent child pornography to individuals online, using the apps, Whisper and Wicked. Alex further told officers he had ‘thousands’ of images and video recordings of young children (mostly females) that were of a sexual nature,” the affidavit adds.

Bail was set at $200,000.
