SALT LAKE CITY — The president and CEO of Utah-based Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals died after a bicycle accident, the nonprofit announced Friday.
John Lauck helmed the nonprofit organization since 2011, according to his LinkedIn profile.
“The entire Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals community mourns John’s loss and extends their deepest sympathies to his family,” the organization wrote in a news release Friday. “John had a remarkable passion for children’s hospitals and inspired communities across North America to help millions of sick and injured kids.”
Nana Mensah, chair of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals board of trustees, said in the release that Lauck’s death is “a tremendous loss for our organization.”
“John will be missed by so many. We will be supporting his family and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals community during this heartbreaking time,” he said.
Lauck’s family issued a statement in the release as well, saying: “We would like to express our sincere appreciation for the outpouring of love and support our family has received since John’s tragic accident. John’s life impacted so many of us in remarkable ways, and we are grateful for the expressions of kindness and concern as we have navigated this unspeakably difficult journey.”
According to the release, the nonprofit’s governance committee is “discussing interim leadership for the organization.”
“Information regarding funeral services for John will be shared as they are available,” the release says. It encouraged the public to consider a donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in lieu of flowers.
According to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals website, before joining the nonprofit Lauck served as co-CEO of Mrs. Fields Famous Brands and had served in senior marketing roles for Arby’s, PepsiCo/Pizza Hut, General Mills, Blockbuster and Footaction.
He received his bachelor’s degree and MBA from Brigham Young University. Lauck is survived by his wife, Alison, four sons, and his parents and siblings.
