WEST VALLEY CITY — One man was shot and killed near 6400 S. Wakefield Way on Wednesday evening, according to police.

Dispatchers first received reports of shots fired about 6 p.m. Witnesses told police they saw a wounded man come out of a vehicle and the car drove off.

Witnesses performed CPR on a 20-year-old man who was later pronounced dead at the scene by medics. He was identified Thursday as Manuel Andres Martinez, West Valley City police confirmed via Twitter.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call valley dispatch at 801-840-4000. Callers can remain anonymous, police said.

The incident is under investigation.
