BEYONCÉ, JAY-Z SIT DURING NATIONAL ANTHEM AT SUPER BOWL

MIAMI (AP) - Video of Beyoncé and Jay-Z sitting while Demi Lovato sang the national anthem at the Super Bowl has surfaced online. TMZ posted the video Sunday of the celebrity couple sitting along with daughter Blue Ivy at Hard Rock Stadium, where the San Francisco 49ers were playing the Kansas City Chiefs. Jay-Z, a co-producer of the halftime show featuring Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, announced his Roc Nation company had entered a partnership with the NFL for events and social activism last year. The rapper received immediate backlash since he had become one of the biggest supporters of Colin Kaepernick (KAP'-ur-nihk), who sparked a fissure in the NFL when he decided to kneel when the national anthem was played before games to protest the killings of blacks by police officers.

PUERTO RICANS THRILLED BY FLAG SIGHTING IN SUPER BOWL

SAN JUAN (AP) - Screams echoed across Puerto Rico when Jennifer Lopez unfurled a feather cape representing the flag of the U.S. territory during the Super Bowl’s halftime show. It's a moment that many were still replaying and sharing on Monday. The move came at a trying time for the island of 3.2 million U.S. citizens. They're struggling to recover from a devastating hurricane, a major earthquake and lingering recession. Many also praised what they believe was a political message. The custom Versace cape had 40,000 feathers in it and 2,000 crystals that made up the lone star on Puerto Rico's flag.

SUPER BOWL ADS DIALED UP FUN AS AN ANTIDOTE TO POLITICS

NEW YORK (AP) - In the real world, political primaries are looming, impeachment is ongoing and heavy news never seems to stop. But during commercial breaks in the Super Bowl, advertisers did their best to serve up an antidote heavily spiked with fun. True, political ads invaded the game, with President Trump and Michael Bloomberg, one of his Democratic challengers, both running spots. But mostly advertisers struck back with millions spent on celebrities, humor and even some weirdness. One collection of ads sent celebrities and products into space; others pushed the boundaries of bizarre humor and brought back the recently expired Mr. Peanut.

WEINSTEIN ACCUSER'S ACCOUNT GRILLED DURING CROSS EXAMINATION

NEW YORK (AP) - A key accuser in the New York City rape trial of Harvey Weinstein is facing a vigorous cross-examination. She returned the witness stand Monday to answer questions about why she maintained a relationship with Weinstein despite her allegations that the once-powerful movie mogul sexually assaulted her. The testimony comes at a pivotal moment in the trial of Weinstein, who became one of the #MeToo movement's top targets. He is charged in New York with the 2013 rape, as well as sexually assaulting Mimi Haleyi, a former “Project Runway” production assistant, in 2006. He's insisted that any sexual encounters he had with his alleged victims were consensual.

BEN PLATT NAMED HASTY PUDDING'S 2020 MAN OF THE YEAR

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) - Harvard University's famed Hasty Pudding theater troupe has named actor and musician Ben Platt 2020's Man of the Year. The 26-year-old Platt is the youngest recipient in the 54-year history of the award. The award is handed out annually by the acting troupe, which dates to the late 18th century. Platt will receive his pudding pot at a celebratory roast on Friday. Platt won a Tony in 2017 for “Dear Evan Hansen," while the cast as a whole earned a Grammy and a Daytime Emmy. Platt is also known for his role as Benji Applebaum in the films “Pitch Perfect" and “Pitch Perfect 2."

GIFT OR KEEP: THE AFTERLIVES OF RED CARPET LOOKS IS A DANCE

NEW YORK (AP) - Remember the pale blue Prada dress Lupita Nyong'o (loo-PEE'-tuh NYUNG'-oh) wore the night she won an Oscar in 2014? How about Glenn Close's moment in gold at last year's Oscars in shimmering Carolina Herrera with the long, liquid cape? In a sea of red carpets, both are among top talent who got to keep their fancy duds. What happens to all the clothes after a big awards night — like the upcoming Oscars — can be a peculiar affair that depends on the relationship a celebrity has with a designer. Often, the fate of a big gown isn't known until it's time to give it back.
