BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — McKinley Wright IV scored 11 of his 21 points in the final 5 minutes, and Colorado beat another ranked team, taking down No. 4 Oregon 74-65. Tyler Bey added 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Buffaloes improved to 9-0 all-time against the Ducks in Boulder. Colorado also moved to 2-1 against ranked teams this season. The Buffaloes are 19-32 under coach Tad Boyle versus teams in the AP Top 25 since he took over in 2010-11. The Ducks had their five-game winning streak halted on a night when they struggled at times to run their offense.
SEATTLE (AP) — Jake Kyman hit seven 3-pointers and scored a career-high 21 points off the bench, the last coming with 8 seconds left to give UCLA a 66-64 win over Washington in the Pac-12 Conference opener for both teams. Kyman was left alone on the wing and nailed his final 3 of the game moments after Nahziah Carter had knocked down a 3-pointer to give Washington the lead. Kyman had scored 18 total points in nine games this season. All 12 of his shot attempts were 3-pointers and was critical in UCLA snapping a three-game losing streak.
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Daejon Davis scored a season-high 20 points withsix rebounds and five assists in helping Stanford beat California 68-52 in the Pac-12 Conference opener for both teams. Tyrell Terry added 14 points and five rebounds for the Cardinal, who beat Cal at home for the first time in three years. Bryce Wills scored 10 points. Grant Anticevich scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Bears, who lost their fourth straight. Matt Bradley’s layup midway through the second half brought the Bears within 44-35 but Davis scored the next five points and Spencer Jones hit a 3-pointer to extend Stanford’s lead.
PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Onyeka Okongwu scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Southern California to a 65-56 victory over Washington State in the Pac-12 opener. USC held WSU to just 28% shooting. The Trojans have now won six in a row. Okongwu finished 12-of-14 shooting and had two blocked shots in his first game back after suffering a mild ankle sprain. Isaac Bonton scored 18 points and Tony Miller had 15 points and 11 rebounds for WSU. The Cougars were overpowered by the bigger and more physical Trojans after going undefeated in December.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Timmy Allen scored 25 points and collected 10 rebounds to lead Utah to an 81-69 victory over Oregon State in the Pac-12 opener for both teams. Both Gach added 17 points while Rylan Jones scored 14 points and dished out five assists for the Utes.
UNDATED (AP) — The Pac-12 basketball season is kicking off with a rivalry game between Arizona State and No. 24 Arizona. No. 4 Oregon also faces a tough test out of the gate with road games against Colorado and Utah. The Ducks have matched their highest ranking since the 2017 Final Four team climbed to No. 4 in the AP Top 25.
