PETERSON, Morgan County — I-84 eastbound is closed near Peterson in Morgan County Tuesday morning after a fatal crash there Monday night, officials said.
A semitruck pulling a 53-foot trailer filled with yogurt products veered to the right, hit a concrete barrier twice, then rolled just before 11 p.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Justin Cheney.

The vehicle slid down the road, and sparks ignited fuel that had leaked from the tanks. The semitruck caught fire and the driver — who was the only person inside — died on scene.
Utah Highway Patrol identified him as Jimmie Grundie, 59, of Brigham City.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Grundie possibly had some sort of medical condition before the crash, troopers said. Family members told troopers he was diabetic and had a heart issue, possibly a heart attack, within the last several weeks. Those may have been contributing factors.
A detour is in place in the area. There is no estimate on when I-84 will reopen, the KSL Traffic Center reported.
