EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Vernon Carey Jr. had 26 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks to help No. 10 Duke dominate No. 11 Michigan State in an 87-75 victory. The Blue Devils looked like one of the top teams in the country and not a rebuilding one a week after losing at home to Stephen F. Austin. Duke guard Tre Jones scored 20 points, matched a career high with 12 assists and made three steals as part of a defensive effort that forced 14 turnovers.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Jordan Nwora had 22 points and 12 rebounds, and top-ranked Louisville held No. 4 Michigan to a season-low 26% shooting mark for a 58-43 victory in its first game since returning to No. 1. The Cardinals shot just 37% but their defense stifled Michigan much of the night as they earned a signature victory in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge one day after claiming the top spot in the AP Top 25 for the first time in six years.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Devonte Green scored a career-high 30 points and Trayce Jackson-Davis added 15, leading undefeated Indiana past No. 17 Florida State 80-64 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Indiana is 8-0 for the first time since 2012-13 and has beaten three straight ranked opponents under coach Archie Miller. The previous two came last season.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Luka Garza scored 23 points, Jordan Bohannon and Joe Wieskamp added 17 and 13, respectively, and Iowa pulled away in the second half to defeat Syracuse 68-54 on Tuesday night. Marek Dolezaj led Syracuse with 12 points as the Orange suffered their third straight loss.
BOSTON (AP) — Miller Kopp and Boo Buie each scored 20 points, and Northwestern beat Boston College 82-64 in a Big Ten/ACC Challenge matchup. Ryan Young added 12 points and Pete Nance had a pair of 3-pointers during a key 16-0 first half run for the Wildcats.
ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) — Ohio State defensive end Chase Young has been selected as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year. No. 2 Ohio State boasts the nation’s No. 1 defense, with Young leading the way. The junior has a school-record 16½ sacks _ the most by a Big Ten player in 21 years _ 30½ in three seasons. Ohio State coach Ryan Day was chosen Coach of the Year by media, while Minnesota’s P.J. Fleck was picked by the Big Ten’s coaches in voting announced by the conference.
UNDATED (AP) — Ohio State will go into championship weekend as the top team in the College Football Playoff selection committee’s rankings, followed by LSU, Clemson and Georgia. Utah was fifth, Oklahoma sixth and Baylor seventh in the committee’s second-to-last top 25. The final rankings that set the pairings for the national semifinals come out Sunday after each FBS conference plays a championship game this weekend.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Xavier Johnson scored a season-high 20 points to lead Pittsburgh over Rutgers, 71-60 in the 2019 ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Johnson finished 8 of 14 shooting and hit 2 of 5 from beyond the 3-point arc. He also recorded a game-high eight assists.
