SANDY — One man is in serious condition Sunday after being shot by his wife in Sandy on Saturday night.

Following an altercation, a 25-year-old woman shot her husband, 26, twice about 10:20 p.m. Saturday near 2000 East and 11600 South, Sandy Police Lt. Dean Carriger said.

The man is in serious but stable condition, Carriger said, and is expected to survive. He is being treated at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Carriger added.

Police have not released the names of either the man or the woman involved in the shooting.

Carriger said the woman was not arrested after the shooting, as police are investigating whether or not it was justified. Police said no charges have been filed at this time.
