SALT LAKE CITY — Weber State University is hosting its second annual Day of Giving, a 24-hour fundraising event aimed at supporting students and staff across campus. Last year's inaugural event raised more than $94,000, providing critical funding for scholarships, student programs, and emergency resources.
"We're super excited about the results," said Amber Robson, associate director of alumni relations at Weber State. "We raised $94,000 dollars and it was our first year, so we're really excited about that. This year, we're looking forward to, of course, breaking those goals, getting new donors engaged."
The fundraiser helps students who face urgent financial challenges, from food insecurity to unexpected expenses.
Junior Adam Tamang highlighted the importance of the program: "There's students who needs help with funding when they're in, like, an emergency. Some students, they are about to go homeless or some people who cannot afford their tuition."
In addition to addressing immediate needs, Day of Giving funds scholarships, campus projects, and programs that give students hands-on experiences beyond the classroom.
Robson added, "We do everything from scholarships to basic needs centers like the food pantry, helping with different conferences and retreats that the students can go on to get those real-life experiences."
The university is encouraging alumni, friends, and community members to participate. Even small contributions can make a big difference in helping students and staff thrive academically and personally.
Those interested in supporting Weber State's students and staff can donate online at the official Day of Giving page.
