KAYSVILLE — Authorities are investigating after a house fire killed a 76-year-old man Friday night in Kaysville.
Crews from the Kaysville, Layton and Farmington fire departments were dispatched to the fire on 250 North, between 500 and 600 East, at 10:15 p.m. Friday, according to a Kaysville Fire Department Facebook post. Upon arriving, crews found “fire venting from nearly all of the windows” of the home.
The South Weber and South Davis Metro fire departments also responded to the scene.
When the fire was down and the home was searched, authorities discovered the man. He was described as the “sole occupant of the home.”
The man was later identified as DeRay Taylor, according to Davis dispatchers.
On Facebook, the Kaysville Fire Department said the cause of the fire is not yet known and that Kaysville police and the Utah State Fire Marshall’s Office will begin a joint investigation this morning.
