NORTH LOGAN — One man is in custody after police say he killed his mother at an apartment in North Logan Saturday.
Shawn Ryan Andrews, 28, was booked into the Cache County Jail on suspicion of murder and felony obstruction of justice. He is being held without bail.
Officers responded to reports of an unconscious female at the North Pointe Apartments in North Logan shortly after 3 p.m., North Park police said in an emailed statement. Once first responders arrived on scene, they began life-saving measures; however, these attempts were unsuccessful. The victim has been identified as 67-year-old Debra Ann Andrews, Shawn Andrews' mother.
In a statement released Sunday, North Park police said evidence "shows that Debra was the victim of at least one stab wound," but that the cause of death will be determined after an autopsy. Investigators are still looking into what led to the stabbing.
They offered Debra Andrews' family and loved ones "heartfelt condolences ... during this difficult time." The North Park Police Department said any additional information will be made available through its Twitter and Facebook pages.
