TAYLORSVILLE — Drivers can expect delays at 6200 South and Bangerter Highway in Taylorsville as crews work on moving the aqueduct over the next two weekends.

The Utah Department of Transportation says during the first weekend, Nov. 15-18, several lanes will be closed starting at 9 p.m. on Friday and will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.

There will be one southbound lane open through the intersection of Bangerter Highway and 6200 South, and the left-turning lanes heading northbound on Bangerter to westbound 6200 South will be closed. All northbound lanes will remain open through the intersection.

UDOT recommends drivers use Center Park Drive as an alternative.

Weather permitting, the second closure will start Nov. 22 at 9 p.m. and end Nov. 25 by 5 a.m. This time, there will be one southbound lane open through the intersection and one northbound lane open. Additionally, drivers will not be able to turn left from eastbound 6200 South to northbound Bangerter Highway. The alternative for this detour is 5400 South.

These closures are due, in part, to the relocation of the Jordan Aqueduct, primarily on the west side of Bangerter Highway, that is expected to be completed in the fall. This is being done in preparation for a new interchange that will be built in the area. Work on that project is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2020.
