EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Authorities in Snohomish County are investigating the death of a man who was shot by sheriff's deputies in an apartment near Everett.
The Daily Herald reports the shooting occurred Saturday night in the 100 block of 124th Street SE.
The Snohomish County Multiple Response Team says deputies were responding to reports of a man who was acting suicidal, had a knife and had stabbed himself.
Authorities say the 44-year-old man advanced toward responding officers, and less lethal rounds were initially used. Officials did not say what kind of less-lethal rounds were used.
Officials say the man continued to approach, and shots were fired.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he died.
The Snohomish County medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death and identity of the man.
