PROVO — Crews worked to extinguish a semitruck hauling potatoes that caught on fire on southbound I-15 near Provo Tuesday night, officials said.
The driver of the truck was trying to avoid a mattress on the freeway when he lost control and crashed a little after 9:30 p.m., Provo Fire Capt. Dean York said.
Crews closed all but two lanes on southbound I-15 just south of the University Avenue exit as they worked to clean up and extinguish the flames.
The driver has minor burns and is the only one injured, according to York.
