Power restored for thousands in West Valley City, officials say

WEST VALLEY CITY — Power has been restored for thousands of Rocky Mountain Power customers after an outage in West Valley City, company officials said Friday.

The cause of the outage was substation interruption, according to a tweet from Rocky Mountain Power. As of 11:30 a.m., power had been restored in the area, according to the company's website.

Initially, about 7,400 were without power, but as of 10 a.m., that number had been reduced to just under 5,000, according to Rocky Mountain Power's website.

It was not clear if the substation interruption was due to severe weather moving through the area. The Wasatch Front was experiencing various severe thunderstorms and precipitation from Brigham City to Lehi on Friday morning, according to the KSL Weather Forecast.
