STRAWBERRY RESERVOIR — A 50-year-old man is dead following an ATV crash near Strawberry Reservoir Sunday morning.

Norman Lange from Rock Springs, Wyoming, was traveling eastbound on state Route 40 when he left the roadway and entered a construction zone, according to Utah Highway Patrol.

Lange re-entered the roadway where he was hit by a pickup truck pulling a 20-foot camping trailer. Troopers said Lange sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The occupants in the pickup truck did not suffer any injuries.

UDOT first reported a crash just north of the reservoir shortly before 11:30 a.m. The agency reported both directions were closed. Shortly before 2 p.m., one lane reopened to alternating traffic.

John Gleason of UDOT said all lanes were open by 4:45 p.m. and crews completely cleared the scene around 7 p.m.

Officials encouraged motorists to use U.S. Highway 6, which is south of the highway, as an alternate route to move east and west through the area before clearing the area.
