HENEFER, Summit County — Eastbound I-84 has reopened near Henefer Monday morning as crews investigate a powdered cement spill on the roadway, authorities said.
Drivers reported seeing an unidentified, white powdery substance covering both lanes of I-84 about 5:30 a.m., according to North Summit Fire spokesman Tyler Rowser. Hazmat crews and the Summit County Health Department were on scene.
A local laboratory later confirmed that the substance was powdered cement, according to a tweet from North Summit Fire District.
Officials believe the source of the spill was likely a cement supplier located in the nearby town of Croydon, Rowser said. There were no risks to public health or the environment reported after the spill, he added.
As of 8 a.m., the scene had been turned over to the Utah Department of Transportation for further cleanup, North Summit Fire District said on Twitter. By 9:15 a.m., the scene had been cleared and UDOT was not reporting any closures or delays in the area.

No crash was reported in the area and no vehicles were pulled over, Rowser added.
