TORONTO (AP) — Approaching a crucial Game Five of the NBA Final, the Golden State Warriors say Kevin Durant will practice Sunday with hopes of playing Monday night. Durant has not played since straining a calf muscle on May 8. The Warriors trail the Toronto Raptors 3-1 in the title series, and are 6-3 since he got injured. Warriors coach Steve Kerr says Durant will get some work in against the team's younger players. The team will assess how Durant feels afterward and it's unclear if a final determination will be made on his availability for Game 5 before Monday.
PARIS (AP) — For a few, fleeting moments Sunday, Rafael Nadal found his French Open supremacy seemingly threatened by Dominic Thiem, a younger, talented opponent challenging him in the final for the second consecutive year. A poor game from Nadal allowed Thiem to break him and even things at a set apiece. So Nadal reasserted himself, as he usually does at Roland Garros, by grabbing 16 of the next 17 points and 12 of the remaining 14 games, pulling away to beat Thiem 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 for his record-extending 12th championship at the French Open.
NEW YORK (AP) — After only a four-inning return, the New York Mets’ Robinson Canó is right back on the injured list. Four days after returning to the lineup, the second baseman was placed on the 10-day IL again by the New York Mets with tightness in his left quadriceps. The move was made Sunday, retroactive to Thursday, after Canó aggravated the injury Wednesday night in his first game since May 22.
MONACO (AP) — Russia is still off track -- and field. An international ban has been extended over concerns Russia is "backsliding" on doping reforms. Sunday's decision by track's world governing body, the IAAF, means Russia has three months to convince the IAAF it's made enough progress for its athletes not to have to compete under a neutral flag at the world championships in Qatar.
