UNDATED (AP) — Authorities say a Utah man sought in an alleged sex crime involving a juvenile is missing after his car went into a river in a northwestern Arizona gorge. Police in Hurricane, Utah, said in a statement that the man's car was spotted upside down in the Virgin River along Interstate 15 after officers broke off a pursuit after the car entered Arizona on Friday. Police said Saturday that the man's wallet and shoes were found dry on a riverbank.

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — A funeral service is scheduled Tuesday afternoon in Logan, Utah, for 5-year-old Elizabeth Shelley, a homicide victim who disappeared May 25 and whose body was found Wednesday less than a block from her home. Her 1 p.m. funeral at the Nyman Funeral Home in Logan will be preceded by a candlelight vigil at 8 p.m. Saturday on the historic Cache County Courthouse's front steps and public viewings from 6-8 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — A Logan man's body has been recovered at a southern Utah state park where he jumped from the top of waterfalls. Utah Division of Parks and Recreation officials say the body of 36-year-old Brandon Gary Johnson was found Saturday, a day after he was last seen jumping into water at Gunlock State Park near St. George.

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah (AP) — A slave who travelled to Utah in the 1800s to settle the territory on behalf of the Mississippi couple who owned him was honored in a recent ceremony that unveiled a headstone at his burial site that was an unmarked grave for 130 years. KUER-FM reports residents dedicated a new grave to Hark Lay Wales Monday in the Cottonwood Heights cemetery where he is buried. Wales is one of dozens of slaves estimated to have travelled to Utah to settle the territory on behalf of their owners.
