KAMAS, Summit County — Authorities believe they have found the body of a missing Wyoming man in the Gilbert Creek area of Summit County.
The Uinta County Sheriff's Office and Lyman Police Department assisted Summit County Sheriff's Office with the recovery of the body, which was discovered Thursday by people traveling through the area.
While positive identification hasn't been made by Utah Medical Examiner's Office, authorities said in a statement released Friday they believe the body belongs to 92-year-old James Pritchard, who's been missing since May 17.
The Summit County Sheriff's Office and Utah Medical Examiner's Office will handle further investigation, the release stated.
Pritchard, of Lyman, Wyoming, had onset dementia, enjoyed fishing and spending time in the mountains, and may have traveled to a remote area unprepared for weather, according to an earlier statement from Uinta County Sheriff's Office. His truck was also missing from his residence May 17, the release stated.
