(AP) — Philip Clarke's two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth lifted Vanderbilt to an 11-10, come-from-behind win over Mississippi in the Southeastern Conference Tournament championship game. The Commodores surge into the NCAA regionals as a potential No. 1 overall seed having won nine straight and 22 of 23.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Six Southeastern Conference schools are among the 16 regional hosts for the NCAA baseball tournament, with LSU playing at home in the first round for the 26th time. SEC schools hosting regionals in addition to LSU are Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi State, Mississippi and Vanderbilt. The ACC, Big 12 and Pac-12 have three teams apiece hosting regionals. West Virginia will host for the first time.
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Rod Bramblett, the longtime radio announcer for Auburn football and basketball games, and his wife were killed in a two-vehicle accident. Lee County Coroner Bill Harris says 53-year-old Rod Bramblett died at UAB Hospital in Birmingham from a head injury. Harris says Bramblett's wife, Paula, died from internal injuries. A 1988 Auburn graduate, Rod Bramblett had been the Tigers' play-by-play announcer for football and basketball since 2003.
