CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Reserve Clemson linebacker Shaq Smith's name is in the transfer portal and Tigers coach Dabo Swinney says he's looking to leave the program. Smith is a former five-star recruit from Baltimore, Maryland who has seen limited action in two seasons. Smith graduated from Clemson earlier this month and would have two years of eligibility remaining. Smith spent spring practice competing for a starting linebacker spot.

UNDATED (AP) — Auburn against Oregon at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Aug. 31 will be the first ABC Saturday Night Football game of the season. ESPN announced the first three games of the 14th season of Saturday Night Football.

UNDATED (AP) — The NCAA says it is forming a working group to consider how its rules can be modified to allow college athletes to be compensated for use of their names, images and likenesses. NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors say Big East Commissioner Val Ackerman will head the new federal and state legislation working group.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — New North Carolina women's basketball coach Courtney Banghart has hired Carrie Moore as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. The school announced Moore's hiring Tuesday. Moore spent five seasons working under Banghart at Princeton, including the past three seasons as an assistant coach. Moore had also worked as an assistant coach at Creighton.
