WEST VALLEY CITY — Timpview girls golf entered Wednesday’s final round of the Class 5A state meet with a one-stroke lead on three-time defending champion Corner Canyon.
And it only went up from there.
Sunbin Seo shot 152 to finished in fourth place, and the Thunderbirds clinched their first-ever girls golf state title by 10 strokes over the Chargers at The Ridge Golf Club in West Valley City.
Teammate Rachel Lillywhite finished tied for sixth with a two-day 161, and Keilani Hanamaikai added an eighth-place finish at 162.
"My three little freshmen stepped up big — my whole team did," Timpview coach Jeff Ward told the Deseret News. "I'm absolutely ecstatic for my girls."
Corner Canyon star Jamie Connell won medalist honors, holding off West’s Whitney Banz after an eight-hole playoff to capture the individual title.
Alta finished third, followed by Brighton and Skyline to round out the top five.

Class 3A
Hayden Harris, Ellie Hair, Natasha Oldroyd, Piper Harris and Maddy Miller each finished in the top six to help Richfield roll to another Class 3A state title at Round Valley golf course in Morgan.
Hayden Harris took medalist honors with a two-day total of 154, three shots better than teammate Hair.
The Wildcats took the top six spots on the leaderboard, separated only by Grand’s Joopy Bamrungmuang, who finished tied for third with a two-day total of 161; and sixth-place Jordan Bianco of Carbon and Shayla Patton of Delta (174).
Richfield put together a team score of 632, followed by host Morgan (738), Grand (758), Providence Hall (756) and Carbon (761).
