GREEN RIVER — One person was killed as a result of a "near head-on" collision between two semitrucks that closed U.S. Highway 6 between Price and Green River for several hours Tuesday morning, officials said.

A westbound semitruck crossed the center line near the town of Woodside about 3:55 a.m. and hit an eastbound semitruck, according to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol.

The driver of the westbound semitruck died. Injuries to the driver of the eastbound vehicle are not life-threatening, UHP said. The co-driver of the eastbound semitruck was not injured.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

Both directions of the highway were closed while authorities investigated and cleaned up the crash. It reopened about 10:30 a.m.
