ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia Tech's offense has essentially spent spring practice trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. The transition from triple-option to no-huddle spread under new coach Geoff Collins is a daunting challenge on such short notice. While much of the attention has focused on the quarterback and receiver positions, it's also been a major adjustment for the guys in the trenches.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel has adjusted the targeting rule in college football. Video review officials are now allowed to overturn a targeting call if any element of the penalty cannot be confirmed. The adjustment means there will be no option for letting the call on the field stand during a review. The overtime format also was changed. Once a game reaches a fifth overtime, teams will run alternating 2-point plays instead of starting another drive at the opponent's 25-yard line.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — NCAA runner-up Notre Dame might lose another scholarship player after Danielle Patterson announced her intention to transfer. Patterson was one of six scholarship players coach Muffet McGraw figured to use in rebuilding her lineup. Her starting five from last season were all selected among the first 19 picks of the recent WNBA draft. Patterson, a 6-foot-3 sophomore forward from New York, announced her intentions to enter the NCAA transfer portal Tuesday evening on her Twitter account.
