KANAB — Troopers identified an 80-year-old woman who died after she was hit by a truck in Kanab Wednesday.
Phyllis L. Pyle, of Auburn, Washington, was walking with her husband just before 7 p.m. when a westbound truck turned south onto U.S. 89A as the couple crossed the intersection of U.S. 89 and U.S. 89A. The driver didn't see the pedestrians because the sun was in his eyes, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.
Pyle's husband jumped out of the way of the truck, but the vehicle struck Pyle, troopers said. She was transported to Kanab Hospital where she later died.
