MAGNA — Authorities on Friday identified two men who died in a rollover crash on state Route 201 Wednesday evening.
Raphael R. Xiques, 26, of West Jordan, and Giovanni Suazo, 21, of Taylorsville, were traveling north on 9120 West in a white Subaru preparing to turn onto westbound state Route 201, according to a news release from the Utah Highway Patrol. At the same time, a gold Nissan Pathfinder was eastbound on state Route 201.
The Subaru then attempted to make a left turn onto westbound state Route 201 but collided with the Nissan while crossing the eastbound lanes of the road. The Nissan t-boned the driver’s side of the Subaru, UHP said.
Both Xiques and Suazo were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the Nissan was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray in serious condition.
It remains unknown Friday if any of the drivers involved were impaired.
