MANTUA, Box Elder County — Troopers have identified a Cache County woman killed Tuesday in a head-on crash in Sardine Canyon.

Witnesses reported a pickup truck crossed the median and was traveling north in a southbound lane on U.S. 91 in an area known as Dry Lake about 2:15 p.m., according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Another driver swerved to avoid crashing with the truck, the UHP said, then saw the pickup truck strike an SUV.

Bonnie J. Reeder, 87, a passenger in the pickup truck, had her heart stop, according to the UHP, but troopers reported she regained a pulse as emergency responders performed CPR. Reeder, a Hyde Park resident, was flown to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The 32-year-old man who was driving the SUV needed to be extricated from the vehicle. He was taken to Logan Regional Hospital in good condition, troopers said.

The 88-year-old man who was driving the pickup truck was also taken to Logan Regional Hospital in good condition.

Authorities were investigating fatigue or a medical condition as possible causes of the crash, the UHP said.
