1 man killed, 1 critically injured after hit and run in South Salt Lake

SOUTH SALT LAKE — One man was killed and another critically injured when they were struck by a car while crossing a street in South Salt Lake late Saturday night, police reported.

The two men were crossing a crosswalk at 3300 S. Main Street about 11:51 p.m. when the light began to turn green, and a vehicle blazed through the intersection, hitting both individuals, South Salt Lake police spokesman Gary Keller told KSL.com.

The two men, who police said were between 30 and 40 years old, were both transported to the hospital. One was pronounced dead, and the other is still in critical condition, Keller said. Additional information, including the identities of the two men, was not immediately released.

South Salt Lake police are asking for help in finding a dark-colored Chevy Trailblazer in connection with the hit-and-run. Those with information can contact South Salt Lake police's non-emergency dispatch number at (801) 840-4000 with any new details.
