SALT LAKE CITY — A bill to allow candidates to pay for child care during campaign events passed unanimously in the Senate Friday, with a substitution allowing use during legislative duties as well.
"It didn’t make sense to cover only campaign duties and not legislative duties," said Sen. Deidre Henderson, R-Spanish Fork.
The substitution to HB129 was made during the second reading in the Senate on Thursday. Because it has been changed, the bill will go back to the House for concurrence. It passed in the House last week.
The bill is meant to allow more people with young children to participate and run for political office.
