SANDY — A 44-year-old Sandy man died after being hit by a car on Thursday afternoon, police said.
The crash took place about 12:40 p.m. at the intersection of 10040 S. Wasatch Blvd., Sandy police Lt. Dean Carriger said. The man was crossing Wasatch Boulevard in a crosswalk when a Toyota Camry that was heading south hit him, Carriger said.
The man died at the scene. He was later identified as Fernando Cruz La Vana, police said.
A 68-year-old Sandy man was driving the Toyota and is cooperating with police, Carriger said. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Wasatch Boulevard was closed for several hours as police investigate the crash, officials said.
