OGDEN — Police are searching for a man they are calling a suspect in the death of a 28-year-old who was found unconscious on an Ogden street Saturday, officials said.

A passerby found DJ Parkinson lying in the grass with "significant injuries to his torso" in the 2200 block of Monroe Boulevard shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday night, Ogden police said in a news release Wednesday.

Parkinson was transported to a hospital but died from his injuries the next day.

Parkinson was involved in an altercation and was injured during the fight, according to a group of people who were with Parkinson at the time, police said. Officials did not release more information about the nature of his injuries but confirmed that the person who injured Parkinson did not use a firearm.

Authorities are now investigating Parkinson's death as a homicide and said they are searching for 18-year-old Xavier Soto. Soto's whereabouts are currently unknown, police said.

Those with information can call 801-629-8029.
