SOLDIER SUMMIT — An injured man was found two hours after his truck rolled down an embankment off U.S. 6 Monday morning, officials said.
The 32-year-old was traveling east on U.S. Highway 6 near Soldier Summit when his Nissan Titan pickup truck rolled off the right side of the road and 75 yards down an embankment, according to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol.
Both the driver and the engine were "cold to the touch" when emergency responders arrived about 9 a.m. Troopers believe he was there for about two hours before he was found by a passerby.
The man had serious injures that were not considered to be life-threatening and was airlifted to a hospital, Utah Highway Patrol said. When he arrived at the hospital, medical personnel upgraded his condition and said he suffered broken bones and a concussion.
Troopers are still not sure what caused the crash.
In a separate incident that occurred about the same time Monday morning, U.S. 6 was closed near the junction with I-70 after troopers attempted to pull over a vehicle and the occupants of the vehicle began throwing things out the window, Utah Highway Patrol officials said.
The highway reopened shortly after.
Editor's note: A previous version of this article stated the rollover accident occurred near the junction with I-70 and that it had closed U.S. 6. It has been corrected to show that there were two separate, unrelated incidents on U.S. 6 at the same time.
