ROY — A 19-year-old woman may face criminal charges after a car crashed through a wall and into an auto parts store early Sunday morning, police say.

The crash took place about 7:25 a.m. at the O’Reilly Auto Parts store at the intersection of 4000 South and Midland Drive, according to Roy Police Department spokesman Stuart Hackworth.

The woman was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden with minor injuries, Hackworth said. The store was closed when the crash took place, so there was no one inside and no one else was injured, he said.

When police officers arrived on scene, they found that a white Dodge sedan had driven through a northeast wall at the store and ended up inside the building, Hackworth said. The woman was still in the driver’s seat of the car, he added.

The store had significant damage and will remain closed until it is determined to be structurally safe.

Investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, Hackworth said. Police are screening the case with the Weber County Attorney’s Office and are considering possible criminal mischief, DUI and illegal alcohol consumption charges, he added.

Hackworth did not identify the woman who was involved in the crash.
