VEYO, Washington County — A woman was killed and a man is in "extremely critical condition" after a head-on crash on state Route 18 near Veyo in Washington County Tuesday, officials said.
Wendy Pollock, 24, of Enterprise, was driving south on the road when a northbound red Chevy S-10 swerved into Pollock's lane for "an unknown reason," Utah Highway Patrol officials said. Pollock veered into the northbound lane to avoid a crash just as the male driver of the Chevy swerved back into that lane.
The Chevy hit Pollock's car on the driver's side and she was killed on impact, officials said. She was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
The man was transported in critical condition to Dixie Regional Medical Center via medical helicopter.
Utah Highway Patrol officials said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
