ST. GEORGE — Because of the upcoming fall break, Utah high school football started on a Wednesday in St. George this week.

And what a start it was.

Logan Wilstead connected with Kire Goulding in triple overtime, and Jarron Polu jumped on the game-clinching fumble inside the 10-yard line to help Desert Hills stay unbeaten in Region 9 play with a 52-44 win over Pine View in the Thunder’s regular-season home finale.

Kina Taufa punched in a short touchdown in the second overtime to force the third extra session and set up Wilstead’s dramatics for the Thunder (6-2, 5-0 Region 9).

Connor Brooksby’s 26-yard field goal helped the Panthers (5-3, 3-2) to a 27-20 edge at halftime. But the Thunder out-scored Pine View 10-3 in the third quarter to power a push for overtime.

Dixie 59, Hurricane 0

At Hurricane, Preston Moore ran for 195 yards and three touchdowns, and quarterback Reggie Graff added another three scores as the Flyers rolled by the Tigers to set up next week’s clash.

Graff also completed 7-of-11 passes for 98 yards, including a 44-yard TD strike to Josh Cazier to open the second quarter as Dixie (7-1, 5-0 Region 9) rolled to a 52-0 halftime advantage.

Snow Canyon 31, Canyon View 25

At Snow Canyon, Ryan Bethers ran for 67 yards and a touchdown, and Bretton Stone added 52 yards and a score to help the Warriors hold off the Falcons in Santa Clara.

Miles Reynolds ran for 102 yards on 12 carries to lead Snow Canyon (3-5, 2-3 Region 9).
