WEST JORDAN — A truck stuck underneath Old Bingham Highway on southbound Bangerter Highway was extricated after about two hours of causing traffic delays in West Jordan Monday morning, according to the KSL Traffic Center.
The driver saw the truck's load was too tall to fit under the highway, so he stopped right in front of the overpass near 8600 South, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
The stop caused delays between 9000 South and 7800 South, the KSL Traffic Center said. Officials allowed vehicles to pass on the side of the highway, but the incident caused at least two hours of backup.
Crews let out the air from the truck's tires and moved the load under the highway to a nearby road construction site. Bangerter Highway was fully reopened about 1 p.m., according to the KSL Traffic Center.
