LEHI — A woman died Saturday morning after the car she was in slammed into a dump truck at the intersection of Pioneer Crossing and 2300 West in Lehi, police said.
The crash took place about 7:45 a.m., according to Lehi police Sgt. Robert Marshall.
A passenger car with a woman, a man and their two children was heading east on Pioneer Crossing when the man drove through a red light, Marshall said. The car hit a dump truck that was driving north on 2300 West and had just entered the intersection, he added.
The mother, who is in her 30s, was not wearing a seat belt and died in the collision, Marshall said. The kids and father were wearing seat belts and had only minor injuries. The dump truck driver was the only person in the truck and was not injured.
It appeared that the passenger car did not brake before the crash took place, Marshall said.
Marshall did not provide the identities of any of the people involved.
Police closed the intersection to east and westbound traffic on Pioneer Crossing while they processed the scene. The road reopened about 10:45 a.m, Marshall said.
