WEST VALLEY CITY — A woman died when the vehicle she was traveling in crashed at the southbound I-215 ramp headed to westbound state Route 201 early Monday, officials said.

A 2008 Accura was traveling south on I-215 toward state Route 201 about 2 a.m. when it drifted to the right, went through the triangle opening between the roads and rolled several times, according to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol.

A back seat passenger was ejected and died at the scene. UHP later identified the victim as 24-year-old Daniella Juliana Casey. She was in Utah on leave from the U.S. Navy where she is stationed in Virginia, UHP officials said.

The driver and front seat passenger were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to UHP.

The ramp from southbound I-215 to eastbound state Route 201 was closed but reopened just before 7 a.m., the KSL Traffic Center reported.
