SALT LAKE CITY — Nine new fires sparked throughout Utah in recent days, joining two older ones that are nearly completely contained, according to Utah Fire Info.
Firefighters battled steep and often inaccessible terrain Monday to try and contain the 120,000-acre Goose Creek Fire in Box Elder County while other crews fought a new 287-acre blaze, now dubbed the Tollgate Fire, in Summit County.
Emergency officials are also still working to contain the Monument Peak Fire, Cedar Mountain Fire, Middle Canyon Fire, Pole Canyon Fire, Miner Camp Peak Fire, Refuge Fire and Cove Creek Fire — all of which sparked in late July.
The West Valley Fire and Dollar Ridge Fire are both at over 95 percent containment.
