SOUTH JORDAN — The Bangerter Highway and 11400 South intersection in South Jordan has reopened after a crash forced closures and critically injured a woman Wednesday morning, officials said.

A delivery van traveling south on Bangerter Highway crossed the intersection at 11400 South with a green signal when it collided with a GMC van going west about 11:20 a.m., according to South Jordan Police Sgt. Sam Winkler. The crash caused the delivery van to veer and strike two other vehicles. Debris from the GMC van struck another vehicle.

A total of five vehicles were involved in the crash.

A female occupant of the delivery van was transported to Jordan Valley Medical Center with leg, arm and neck injuries, Winkler said. The two occupants of the GMC van, a husband and wife, were transported to Intermountain Medical Center. The husband sustained minor injuries and cuts, but the wife is in critical but stable condition.

No one from the other three vehicles sustained injuries.

Police are still trying to determine whether the GMC van was traveling west on 11400 South or if the driver made an illegal left turn to go west on 11400 South from Bangerter Highway. The left turn has been closed for a few months because of construction, though some commuters have been making the turn illegally, Winkler said.

The intersection was partially closed for several hours.

The victims' names have not yet been released.
