DRAPER, Utah (AP) — An electric vehicle corridor has been established along Utah's most traveled freeway.
KSL-TV reports that Rocky Mountain Power partnered with the Utah Clean Air Partnership and Maverik gas stations to complete the corridor along Interstate 15 and more than 350 charging stations statewide.
Rocky Mountain Power CEO Cindy Crane says the partners will be installing more charging stations over the next three years, including fast chargers along the I-15, I-80 and I-70 corridors.
She says the infrastructure means electric vehicle owners can experience Utah's ski resorts and national parks without running out of battery life.
The total cost of the project was $14 million, with $4 million coming from a U.S. Energy Department grant.
The current charging network has locations between 50 miles to 100 miles. Officials say that distance will decrease as the network grows.
